MSTEP Testing

6th graders will be taking their MSTEP tests on April 27th, May 2nd, and May 4th .  In order for students to learn and function at their highest potential it is important that they have a good night’s rest and eat a quality breakfast.  While this is true everyday, it is especially true during testing as they will be asked to focus on tests longer than usual.  Your supportive and positive words about the testing go a long way.  We use achievement data to build our school improvement plans, create focuses for the following year, and continue to work to provide support for all of our students.

Respect and Achieve

At Parker our mission statement is Respect and Achieve.  We say that on the announcements every morning.  Lately we have been seeing a lack of respect for some of the Parker restrooms.  We are particularly having issues in the 7th grade boys’ restroom.  Throughout the year we have had to close the restroom due to vandalism, destruction to property, and needing to do deep cleanings beyond the regular cleaning that takes place.  Whenever the restroom is shut down we have provided an alternate restroom for those students.  I am asking that you take some time to speak with your students about treating all aspects of Parker with respect.  We take great pride in our community and our facility.  Thank you for the support in this matter.

Howell Highlander Robotics Night

On Wednesday, May 3 from 6 to 8 p.m., the Howell Highlander Robotics Club will host a Robotics Night at Parker Middle School. Howell Highlander Robotics has teams for students in all grades. Robotics Night is a great opportunity to learn about the various teams, see robot demonstrations and meet the mentors, parents, and students who make up the Howell Highlander Robotics club. Students will also be able to sign up for a team during the event. For more information, please visit https://www.scotsbots.org.

State of the District Address

Next Tuesday, April 25, at 6 p.m. Superintendent MacGregor will deliver his second State of the District Address. During the address, Mr. MacGregor will share updates on the accomplishments and ongoing work of the district as well as the vision for the district as it is outlined in the strategic plan.
