First Annual Parker Pride 5K

On Saturday, October 7th at 9am we will be hosting our First Annual Parker Pride 5K.  This is a fundraiser to raise money for field trips, additional classroom resources, enrichment programs, and positive behavior rewards.  The registration fee is $25 and includes a t-shirt.  We would love to see as many Parker Patriots out there with their families and community members.  If you are looking to help we are still in need of community sponsors.  For $150 a sponsor can have their logo on the back of every t-shirt.  We are also in need of prizes for the winners and volunteers.  Below is the website to register, the sponsorship letter, and the flyer.  Please share with your families or on social media so we can have the best turn out possible.  If you have any questions or would like to help, please contact the main office.  Thank you in advance for your support.

Patriot Time

During registration many students and parents had questions about Patriot Time.  All students have Patriot Time first hour for 24 minutes.  Throughout the year  we will be using this time for team building activities, character building, positive culture activities, goal setting, mentoring, and teaching successful habits for our students.  About the middle of October we will begin a school-wide book study around the best selling book Wonder by R.J. Palacio.  Some students may have already read this book.  Teachers are creating lesson plans around the story to build positive character skills in our students.  Out of this book came a movement called “Choose Kind”.  This will be a major focus for our school this year.  We all know that school and the world would be a better place if people were more kind to one another.  The book is being turned into a movie that is coming out this November.  Here is the trailer if you want to know a little more about the book.

First PTO Meeting

We are very excited about this school year and would love for you to get involved with our PTO.  Our first PTO meeting will be Thursday, September 14th from 5-6.  We have made our first meeting the same night as Open House to try and make it more convenient for our families.  This will also be the night of board elections.  If you are interesting in being part of our PTO board you only need to show up to the meeting.  We hope to see many of you there!

New Student Services Advisor

We are pleased to share that Mr. Nathan Aquilina has been selected as the district’s new middle school student services advisor. As the middle school student services advisor, Mr. Aquilina will facilitate and support activities and services to improve the culture and climate of the school. We are very excited to welcome him to our school. You can read more about Mr. Aquilina at https://goo.gl/j5uXrv.
