Cell Phone Use

In an effort to be proactive with today’s growing social and interactive technology trends, it is our hope that our cell phone policy, in accordance with the HPS Student Code of Conduct, as well as HPS Board of Education Policy, will put into practice social and professional etiquette relating to wireless communication devices. Students must keep their cell phones and any other electronic device off, out of hands and out of sight from 7:20 AM to 2:30 PM, unless explicit permission is granted.

Violation of this policy will result in the following: 1st offense- the cell phone or electronic device will be confiscated and returned at the end of the day. 2nd offense - the cell phone or electronic device will be confiscated and returned at the end of the day and student calls to notify parent. 3rd offense - the cell phone or electronic device will be confiscated, parent pick up required and progressive discipline.

We understand that there are times that parents need to reach their child at school; please refrain from texting your child between 7:20 AM - 2:30 PM.  If after school plans have changed for your student, please call the main office and your child will be notified. In addition, students are always welcome to come into the main office to use the phone.

Thank you for supporting our efforts to ensure students are utilizing digital technology for educational purposes only.  We will review cyber safety rules with students frequently and will offer reminders and reinforcement about cell phone use. The use of a cell phone is not a right but a privilege. When abused, privileges will be withdrawn.
