Fleece and Thank You

This November, students at Parker Middle School will “pay it forward” when the school participates in the Fleece and Thank You program.  The students will help create blankets and videos that will be delivered to hospitalized children who are battling serious illnesses. The school’s goal is to create more than 150 blankets.

“Participating in the Fleece and Thank You program goes hand in hand with the culture we are creating here at Parker Middle School,” said Trish Poelke, Parker Middle School principal. “This year we launched The Positivity Project at our school and adopted their motto of #OtherPeopleMatter. By creating these blankets as a school project, we are showing our students the importance of giving to others and reinforcing that other people matter.”

The students will create the blankets during their Patriot Time class on Monday, Nov. 19. Each Fleece and Thank You blanket costs $24 to make. The school is accepting donations to help cover these costs. Donations can be made online at https://goo.gl/TVaqSd.

About Fleece and Thank You

Fleece & Thank You believes in creating a better world for children suffering in the hospital. The healing connection they foster by linking blanket makers to children with illnesses allows us to cheer them on at the starting line of their treatment journey. They work with local groups to make blankets and video messages, and then they deliver the blankets to warriors in the hospital. Our goal is a simple one: every child in every hospital bed receiving much-needed hope in the form of a colorful, fleece blanket and a friendly face at the start of treatment. We aim to serve the state of MI and Northern OH with 30,000 blankets every year, one for every child that enters the hospital for treatments.
