Welcome to my seventh grade Math class at Parker Middle School. I am happy to be your math teacher this year. I have been a Middle School math teacher for 24 years. I taught my first five years in Sparta, Michigan and then moved to Fowlerville and started teaching in Howell. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University and my Master’s degree from Grand Valley State University. I am also an avid Michigan State fan as I graduated from Grand Ledge High School which is near the campus. I live in Fowlerville with my husband and two kids. My son, Tyler is going into 10th grade and my daughter, Katie will be an 8th grader this year in Fowlerville. I enjoy spending time at our cabin in Farwell, looking for Petoskey stones at a family cottage in Au Gres, watching my kids play sports, and I enjoy walking and reading.
Daily assignments are listed on my board each day. I put copies of assignments/notes on your child's Google Classroom account so if they are absent or forgot an assignment at school they can make copies at home.
Students take notes in my classroom. If students are having difficulty completing their assignments, I strongly suggest that they utilize these notes as we do several sample problems that are similar to their homework assignments.
Late work: I accept late work, but it receives a reduced grade of 5% each day. After a week the highest grade a student may receive for late work is a 50%. Students receive one Late coupon per quarter. They can use this to turn in an assignment late for full credit.
Students may redo assignments up to 85%. They must make corrections on notebook paper and turn it back in within a week. Some quizzes/tests may also be redone to receive up to an 85%. In order to redo a quiz/test, students must first complete an assessment correction sheet and then take a new quiz/test.
Donations of kleenex, hand-held pencil sharpeners, and pencil cap erasers are appreciated.
Students have an IXL account that will sometimes be used for homework, and can always be used for extra practice.
